Part of the One & Only group, the Royal Mirage luxury hotel is made up of three hotels in Dubai: the Palace, the Arabian Court and the Residence & Spa – all luxurious and expensive. This was one of the first luxury hotels on this popular beach strip to use orientalism as an attractive theme, and other have clearly copied ideas.
The Palace is the largest of the three properties that make up the Royal Mirage and is the most family-friendly. The luxury hotel has the best to offer in terms of restaurants and cafes, and it's certainly the liveliest. Many people choose to stay here, but also use the facilities of the other two properties such as the spa.
The facilities
The huge pool, broken up by little islets, is set in a beautifully manicured garden, and the hotel’s stretch of beach is well cared for. There is even a giant chess set on a perfect lawn. At night, the luxury hotel is at its best. Cascades of water in different parts of the grounds are lit up, Moroccan lamps hang from oriental arches and palm trees are wrapped in fairy lights.
Tagine, the Moroccan restaurant, has a palm court where you can lounge about on cushions smoking a shisha and drinking mint tea. There is also a popular nightclub (it seemed to be more popular with the locals than the guests) if you feel the need to let loose, and surprisingly the noise of the club can’t be heard at all from your room.
The rooms
The Palace is a large luxury hotel boasting 250 rooms with a very Arabian feel to its interior décor. Rooms are elegant and practical at the same time, each including a satellite TV, balcony or garden patio and a sea view. For a deluxe experience, guests may stay in the Royal Suite which features two bedrooms each with a king-size bed, walk-in closet, kitchenette and fresh fruit served daily.
