Press quotes
"Youthful and fun, the Mayet has emerged light-hearted and comfortable from its recent makeover." Guardian 07
TI’s pick for good value in Paris. Few frills and small rooms but the Latin Quarter (fringes of) location, the cheerful staff, the crisp décor more than justify the rates, around EUR 100 for a room.“The arty, modern design of this Montparnasse bolthole make it easy to believe that cheap chic in Paris never looked so good.”
The Hotel Writes
Ideally situated in the Invalides district, an equal distance from the Montparnasse Tower and the Eiffel Tower, the Hotel Mayet is hidden out in a small, quiet street, between the rue du Cherche Midi - known for its antique shops and fashion boutiques - and the rue de Sèvres - where you will find the famous Le Bon Marché store.
Very good value for money in this part of the city. All the rooms - be they attic rooms or traditional - will make you feel at home. Breakfast is served in a charming vault with apparent stone walls.
The best of both worlds - a quiet abbey right in the middle of Gay Paris.

What our clients have said
| I have been back to the Mayet hotel twice, and will continue to stay there whenever I go to Paris. It is like a slice of heaven located near everything. Thanks Travel Intelligence. | ||

| This hotel was a very good choice! It is quite a small hotel which lead to a more personal experience and better interaction with the staff who were all very cheerful and accommodating. The artwork and decoration gave the hotel a very young, modern chic look and feel. | ||

| We stayed at the hotel for the weekend and found it to be the perfect place to stay. The rooms are small but we didn't feel too cramped on such a short trip. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the service impeccable. The decor is very funky and I would recommend the hotel to any of my friends on their trip to the city. It was a brilliant place to stay. | ||

| Very satisfied. I appreciate having a real bathroom with light in it as I liked the room design, it was fresh and simple. Breakfast was excellent as well! | ||

| Excellent hotel and staff - living up to expectations. The reception area and comfortable seating area was larger than we had anticipated. The breakfast room is delightful and was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom was sparkling with new towels every other day. It was very helpful to have the hotel's recommended restaurants on display. Travel intelligence is an excellent website and service, and we have already passed on your information to many of our friends and family | ||

| Overall, a very pleasant experience at the Hotel Mayet. The whole atmosphere was lovely. Bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean and spotless, except a little more lighting would be wonderufl. The only thing I would like to complain about is that I requested a non-smoking floor/room, but it turned out to be that I've been smelling the cigarette smoke from my nextdoor neighbor... | ||

| The place is great: loved the decor - modern with a great touch of color; the staff was friendly and helpful; the continental breakfast was served in a cool, lower level room and was the a fine starter for the day (rolls, croissant, coffee, juice); and the computer with free internet in the lobby was a huge bonus for both staying connected and researching local activities. if you are prepared for a potentially very small room (no dresser, just a closet), this is a very good deal. | ||

| We stayed at the Mayet in April of 2005 and loved it. The rooms are very small but quite comfortable and modern. The bathrooms were spotless and the service friendly and informed. Perfect for the price. Would definitely go back! | ||

| Good value for money, perfect location, wouldn't stay for more than one or two nights on a short trip to Paris. True that there is little space in the room other than for the bed. Clean, Ikea style rooms, nice staff, good atmosphere, I recommend it! And for breakfast.. have a cafe au lait and croissant at the nearest Boulangerie and cafe. | ||

| The hotel was exactly as described by your website, and we were delighted that it had been such an honest report. It was good value, very clean, and upbeat. The rooms are small and quite dark, but then we weren’t expecting balcony views! It was in an interesting district, and the hotel had a blackboard with suggestions for local restaurants, which were tried and excellent. Overall I would highly recommend it if you are on a budget, and don’t want chintz! | ||

| We stayed at Hotel Mayet in Paris, and as we were on a budget opted for this one as it was extremely good value. When we arrived in the city, we caught the metro and luckily the hotel was only a minutes walk from le Duroc station, very handy indeed for getting around the city. The hotel itself was superb. The receptionists were all extremely welcoming, helped with any queeries, and of course spoke perfect English. It was a small hotel, but just what we wanted as we were out most of the day anyway. The continental breakfast was lovely everymorning in the very tastefully decorated basement area, and had a wonderful variety of food to chose from. Our room was just a perfect size, with a lovely little balcony looking out the front of the hotel. Bathroom also extremely clean. The place was spotless, and very safe. We had a wonderful stay in Paris and I must say that we prefer the small friendly hotel to any of the large chains you find in any city. I would definitely go again and reccomend it to anyone. | ||

| The hotel was a large disappointment. Due to the honest description of the area, I knew that the location was not central, but the biggest surprise was the size of the rooms. They were so small that there was only about 10 inches around the bed and once two people entered, the room was overcrowded. The wardrobe was so small that bags could not be put inside them once you unpacked. Due to its size the room was incredibly hot and the only respite from this was to turn on the noisy fan which you could not sleep through. Service was competent. | ||

Joanna Monkhouse's Review of Mayet
The phrase ‘cheap & chic’ could have been coined to describe the Mayet design hotel in Paris. Tucked away in the fashionable 6th arrondisement, one minute’s walk from Metro Duroc, the Mayet is a design hotel for travellers who are both style and budget conscious. Stylish and affordable, the Mayet is a fun and funky design hotel with a fresh spirit that is reflected by its youthful staff.

The facilities
Graffiti murals brighten the lobby proffering comfortable sofas to sit and relax. Local restaurant recommendations are chalked up on a blackboard next to reception. A free internet point with touch screen controls is available at this design hotel. A simple continental breakfast, included in the room rate, is served in the colourful, vaulted basement round a large table.
The rooms
The rooms at the Mayet are not large, but hey this is Paris, in the 6th, and frankly what do you expect with rates as good as these? The walls are painted bottom half red, top half grey. The beds (white and comfortable) are flanked by mini steel filing cabinets, and a simple clock dominates. There is a TV with cable channels, no a/c, but a globular ceiling fan operated by a matching remote control. Rooms on the front side have French windows, and those on the 5th floor open onto a small balcony.
The bathrooms are clean and simple – white tiles, white towels, dark grey floor. Baths have a shower attachment but lack a hook from which to hang it. Showers are small and have a curtain rather than a door. In some rooms, using the mirror on the back of the bathroom door, you can even watch TV from the bath – you can’t do that in every design hotel!
Maggie Stack's Review of Mayet
Hotel Mayet, located on the edge of the popular Latin Quarter of Paris, knows exactly what it means to be cheap and cheerful. With only 23 rooms, it is a contemporary boutique hotel with friendly staff that are happy to answer just about any questions you may have.
The facilities
The lobby at the boutique hotel is bright and comfortable; a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing or to plan your next one. The multicoloured paintings balance the neutral cream of the large sofas, where you can lounge after grabbing a snack from the self serve food and drinks machines in the back. Free internet is also offered for all guests. Continental breakfast is provided by the boutique hotel in the vaulted basement round a colourful table, and is a simple, self service meal.
The rooms
The boutique hotel Mayet’s 23 rooms are small, clean, and simple; bathrooms have either a shower or bath. The beds are soft and comfortable, and sit underneath a small but surprisingly powerful ceiling fan to keep you cool on those hot summer nights. As the boutique hotel is not air conditioned, the fans and the large windows help, but light sleepers might be bothered. The furniture is basic but useful, so you can store your luggage without taking up any floor space around the bed. The Mayet is a comfortable and stylish boutique hotel; a pleasant surprise for such reasonable rates!
