What our clients have said
| The rooms in the annexe are ultra ultra modern. I had thought the annexe was in the same style as the main building so we were not expecting it to be quite so contemporary. Personally, we did not find the square bath comfortable (who does?) and both think that wet room showers in a city are a pain as everything in the room does get wet, not just the body under the shower! There were no hooks anywhere to hang towels on and bathrobes and so we felt that design had got the better of practical living when we all know you can combine the two with a little thought. The loo and bidet were in their own glass walled cubicle; not very private. I know we are older … but we are not square! The blackout curtain got hooked into the net curtain when Hugh drew them back on the last morning which meant the curtain AND its metal rail came crashing down just missing his head which was fairly alarming. When we reported this to reception, it clearly has happened many times before … design again has got the better of practicality. Having said all that, the food there was the best we ate in Spain – anywhere. On both nights that we ate in there was no one else there at all which was a shame because the menu was excellent. We asked to eat outside in the courtyard and that was lovely. The staff were all very helpful and the beds were huge and comfortable. The main road is noisy so I would make sure that if anyone stays in the old building that they request a room off the main road – it is busy the whole night. The annexe is behind the main building so is shielded from the noise. There were hardly any people staying so the whole place felt soul-less but its in a fantastic location and generally pretty comfortable although trying to be so cool and trendy can leave it feeling a bit corporate and officey. | ||

| This hotel was fantastic. The room was wonderful; both luxurious and modern. It also had the best shower I've ever had. I would definitely stay there again if I ever return to Granada. I was very happy with TI's hotels and efficiency throughout my trip. | ||

Brendan Sainsbury's Review of Hospes Palacio de los Patos
The Palacio de los Patos is one of only two five star hotel establishments in Granada. Situated in the heart of the busy commercial district, this impressive 19th-century neo-classical palace once belonged to a local sugar cane entrepreneur before being bought out by the Spanish Hospes group several years ago. Classified as one of 137 showcase hotels by the German-based Design Hotel Group the Palacio de los Patos aims to blend modern luxury with old-style classical opulence.
The facilities
After two years of renovation work the luxury hotel put the finishing touches on one of the city’s most imaginative restoration programmes yet. A magnificent blend of classic industrial architecture juxtaposed against a montage of modern, funky design features creates an aesthetically awe inspiring palace for the guests of the Palacio de los Patos.
The spa facility promises delicious chocolate massages as well as a refreshing swimming pool. While the on-site restaurant’s quintessentially Spanish cuisine excites the taste buds after just a quick glance at the menu.
The rooms
With an entrance door guarded by two sculpted swans and a grand marble staircase that wouldn’t look out of place in Buckingham Palace, visitors are lured upstairs into one of 42 stylishly presented rooms. Each room rests underneath a fabulously crafted octagonal ceiling cupola. It’s as if designer Terrance Conran had been commissioned to deck out Versailles with a vaguely ecclesial touch when he created these rooms.
The funky room furnishings in this luxury hotel are currently more in vogue in New York loft apartments than classic Spanish hotels and this juxtaposition of design schemes is what makes the Palacio de los Patos so interesting and unique. The large, spotlessly clean rooms offer “his and her” washbasins, separate bath and shower facilities, plasma TVs and an eclectic selection of complimentary soaps and shampoos.
Service in the luxury hotel’s rooms is professional and attentive and the rooms are bright, spacious and surprisingly quiet. Come late afternoon and they’ll deck your room out with bunches of bright red carnations in anticipation of your imminent return. This is decadence with a stylish, but characteristically Spanish flavour.
