Best English Cottage Locations To Reconnect With Nature

The English countryside is one of the biggest attractions which brings so many tourists into the country and somewhere that many people find solace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. One of the things that surprises me most about the British people is that so many of them overlook the beauty which is right on their doorstep. Thankfully, I am not one of these people and each year I like nothing more than taking the family away to a rural cottage where we can spend some quality time with each other and reconnect with nature. If you are looking to do the same and take in some of the fine English countryside, here are some of my favorite locations where you can do exactly that.

Wiltshire

This beautiful county in the south west of England is a great place for a cottage break which can offer tourists a location in the heart of the great British countryside. Wiltshire really is rural Britain at its best and during your time here you can enjoy hiking in the vast New Forest, taking in a visit to the monolithic ruins of Stonehenge or visit the exciting safari park in the grounds of Longleat, the first of its kind outside Africa. There is so much to explore here and if you want to see the countryside at its best then search for a holiday cottage in Wiltshire for you and your family.

Northumberland

Northumberland is a county on the north east tip of England which offers tourists one of the best places to get away from it all and enjoy some of the finest countryside that you are likely to find in Europe. The county is situated on the coast of the North Sea and this lends itself to some stunning settings indeed. Places of interest in Northumberland are Alnwick and Bamburgh, rural towns which each have their own medieval castles where you can take a step back in time and explore the history that surrounds this region. Were it not for the poor weather conditions, it is probable that the beaches on the Northumberland coastline would be world-famous and you can enjoy them with coastal walks through the soft sand dunes and across a wide variety of coastal trails.

Cornwall

In the extreme south of England is the county of Cornwall, my favorite place in England to take a cottage break. The climate here differs greatly from the rest of the country and whether you are looking to go exploring in the forest or gaze over the English Channel at sunset, Cornwall is the best place to do all of these things. Throughout the county there are many quaint fishing villages and rural towns to discover and I challenge you to find better seafood than what you will find in the Cornish fish shops! The best of rural and coastal nature all in one warm and relaxing package, Cornwall should definitely be on your list of places to visit.
